This experience was just magic and I suggest to anyone who is coming to around this area to save some hours to do it! You will not regret it! Everything was organized in details but with a genuine approach. It was an enthusiastic adventure in the deep tissue of Portugal and made our holiday special.

Inês and Miguel communicate clearly and are knowledgeable about the local environment. They were sensitive to our level of ability and answered all of our questions during the hike. They have a very personal and respectful relationship with the Shephard. Ines and Miguel care deeply about the community and it comes across in all of their thoughts about this beautiful area. The lunch was thoughtfully assembled with local food. We highly recommend this unique opportunity to experience a rapidly vanishing way of life.

Awesome!

Dear Inês and Miguel, This is not just a trip, an activity, a hike. It is a gift from above to have such an experience. You will find the true beauty of nature, not by the outside view and scene, but also by the inner stories, telling you the feeling, the heart, the spirit of the nature. Thank so much for offering us this unforgettable experience.

The trip with Mr. Augusto, Inês and Miguel was fantastic. They were all really friendly and great guides. They explained a lot about the flora and fauna in our tour. We had an awesome time! Also we had a great picnic on the peak of the mountain, and Inês even made some gluten free food (because of an allergy). We can very much recommend the tour if you want to see the Serra da Estrela area!

This was a wonderful mountainside hike with people who care deeply about the landscape and its history. We learned so much from Inês, Miguel, and Sr. Augusto and his wife and enjoyed their company a great deal. We can also vouch for the fact that it is worth going in the fog and drizzle!

This was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience from beginning to end. You get real life insight into what it's like to be a shepherd in Portugal. You walk right beside the shepherd, the goats and the sheep. You get an appreciation of how challenging this life can be. Miguel and Ines are fantastic hosts. They are bright, curious, thoughtful and love sharing their wisdom with others. We had such great conversations and I learned so much. They are incredibly thoughtful. They let me eat their freshly picked berries and provided a true feast on our adventure. Truly one of the best experiences I've ever had.

What a unexpected delight this was. Ines and Miguel are so very sincere and committed to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of this lovely region. Mr Agostino had many stories and anecdotes. We have a lunch en plein air with wine, rustic bread, condiments and cheese was sensational. Do enjoy and appreciate how Ines and Miguel are carefully organising a respectful insight into a vanishing way of life. The unexpected highlight of our trip.

The hike with Ines and Miguel was a very nice experience. By walking with the herd of goats and sheep we learned a log of the nature and local customs. Miguel has prepared a fantastic breakfast with local products, eg cheese and fruits. If you are in normal condition this hike is very doable. We highly recommend this experience.

This is a truly magical experience. The hosts, Inês and Miguel are very friendly, thoughtful and knowledgeable. They have a passion for their environment and for the traditional way of life embodied in the shepherd, Sr. Augusto, and his wife. They also took into consideration our dietary restrictions when preparing the snack that you eat once you’ve reached the top. It is such a special experience it is definitely worth the effort if you are in good health. Sr. Augusto thoughtfully held on to my arm when we were descending over some slippery leaves. The views alone are simply spectacular. But most special is the insight into this way of life and the ecology of the mountain.

A unique and fantastic experience! This is unlike anything I had ever done before and far exceeded my expectations. The care, thoughtfulness, and generosity that Ines and Miguel...and of course the shepherd and his wife...have put into creating this amazing, breathtaking, and cultural experience is evident throughout. If you have the good fortune to be part of this experience, your entire being will thank you. You won’t regret it!

Amazing experience! My husband and I would recommended this experience to anyone traveling to Portugal. We climbed in the mountain with the sheeps and we got a chance to talk to Inês and Miguel who were organizing the experience, but also to the shepherd. The shepherd is really conscious of the well-being of his animals, and is very funny. Taking this experience will for sure give you a deeper understanding of what Portugal really is outside of the big cities like Lisbon and Porto. We had a wonderful picnic in the middle of the mountains with local cheese, local bread, local pork meats; and they can even adapt the picnic to specific diets so if you don't eat pork or if you're vegetarian for example they will be glad to provide you with a homemade salad. Definitely not to be missed! ❤️

Simply AMAZING! The whole experience was so thoughtful! We accompanied Mr. Augosto and his sheep on his daily hike to the peaks of the Serra da Estrela. There we had a beautiful picnic with super delicious local products from the mountains (think sheep cheese, olives, wine, fresh bread and homemade gelly's! ). The hike itself is beautiful, and Inês and Miguel are such beautiful and warm people who care much about their tradition and culture. It exceeded our expectation and can recommend to anyone!!

I wish I could give 10 stars. This was literally the best part of our trip to Portugal. Ines and Miguel were fantastic hosts; extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. Our tour with Mr. Augusto (the shepherd) was second to none. Climbing the hills with them was exhilarating and gave us a unique virus into the lives of the local community. When we reached the top we had the best picnic comprising local food and wine. When we made the trek back to the shepherd’s house he graciously invited us in to meet his wonderful wife. We purchased some out of this world homemade cheese that we snacked on over the next week. I can’t say enough about how much fun we had that day. I wish we knew about their rental property prior to booking other lodging, but maybe we will the next time around.

A very cool experience- highly recommended!! Something really special about following the path of a shepard who's family has been doing this for generations. Sadly, this type of shepherding is going extinct. It is a unique cultural experience and I'm so sad I did it. The lunch they packed was also delicious- got to sample local cheese, meat, bread, quince jam and more. Thank you Ines & Miguel!
